Christmas is a busy and yet a happy time for our choir ending with a social gathering and buffet, or a Dinner. This year we arranged a Buffet/Get together, and all our Vice Presidents were invited to join us. As usual we had a superb selection of food. Special Christmas gifts were given to Jean and Beverley to thank them for all their hard work throughout the year, and for putting up with all of us. However, one other presentation was very sad for us all.
One of our Second Sopranos, Sally Roper, a teacher in Cardiff, had decided to take early retirement and go back to her native Yorkshire to be near her elderly mother and all her family. But Sally was not just a chorister, she was our Assistant Director of Music, our Deputy Accompanist and our solo Flautist ! Sally has a terrific personality and has got us to even sing “The Halleluia Chorus” and “The Lonely Goatherd”in the past. So just before Christmas Sally conducted us for the last time, and was presented with a cheque and a bouquet. Sally now lives in Hull. Her post will be hard to fill. Probably never by one person.
