Wayne David M.P.,a Vice President of our choir, challenged all organisations in the Caerphilly area to raise funds for Haiti. Our choristers had already sponsored Wayne and a group of fellow walkers on a Sponsored Walk from the top of the Rhymney Valley to Machen. So we joined up with Aber Valley M.V.C. to raise funds for Haiti.

The acoustics of St.Helen's Church are wonderful and with a full house of over 400 in the audience the concert got off to a great start with the television presenter Amanda Protheroe-Thomas as compere. Both choirs sang a wide range of music from sacred pieces to modern songs. They were supported by superb singing from opera- singer Cheryl Roberts, Soprano, who lives in Caerphilly, and a trio of teenage students,Triawd, who hail from Hengoed.

The finale was Geraint Evans, Musical Director of Aber Valley MVC. conducting both choirs in "The Rhythm of Life" The atmosphere of the whole evening was fantastic, with a feast of music .It was a tremendous success, raising over £3,300. So many people in the audience asked the same question - "Why don't you two choirs give concerts together more often?"
